Normally love this place. But tonight they are busy, yet we sat at our table (only 2 of us) for 15 minutes before a waiter came to take our order. Not sure if understaffed or just missed us. Even owner walked by and said to staff "this table needs waited on". The good is excellent here. The greens are amazing. I don't come to New Castle often, but this is always a must.

Awesome Italian food, that is cheap and hearty. Is completely casual and is definitely a must have while in New Castle. The Smelts are one of a kind and a great appetizer. And ask for the "CAV/RAV" half cavetellis half ravioli

The service was good and the food was great. We had everything from pizza and wings to sausage and steak Alfredo. Everyone was happy. And we had 9 people.

The absolutely best ravioli you have ever eaten is at Pagley's. And don't forget the meatballs! Delicious. But don't expect great ambiance. The food makes up for any lack of ambiance. Service is prompt and friendly. Enjoy!

A prime cut steak for 15 bux? Delicious. The best in new castle. Their Italian dishes are always amazing too. Love this place!!!

Probably wouldn't go back. The floors were dirty with food and linen when we walked in. Service was slow and the food was OK. Had gnocchi and the sauce tasted a little sour. Could have been an off night?

The trick to Pagley's is to order your takeout meal as you enjoy a glass of red at the bar. They can't ignore you too much if you stroll on in and sit down at the bar. Wait for your food there! The food is The Best in New Castle but as others indicate the service, vibe, decor, staff are just plain " New Castle."

    Acceptable food, cafeteria-like atmosphere.

I love this place. Atmosphere is okay but the food is tremendous and extremely value priced. I enjoyed the veal parmesan and penne and their sweet house sauce is excellent.

Good food. Had the cavatelli. Only complaint was the slow service for takeout. When a guy comes in after you, gets a table, gets his food, then leaves all before your order is ready....there's a problem. My rating is for the food alone.

Service was bad. Had to wait about 20 min. to even get our drinks. And a long time to get our food. Waitress never even came back to ask if we needed anything else. Don't go here if your rushed for time or on a lunch hour. Food was good, just not hot enough.

Anthony's favorite, bowl of wedding soup and side of spaghetti. Game over. This place is a treasure that I go out of my way to enjoy.

Raviolis the size of my head? Yes, please! Great food at a reasonable price - awkward atmosphere (very cold) and I hate that the TV is always on; I'd much rather get take-out from here... yum.

I've eaten here and the food is good but the last two times I've gone, after we got seated but before we placed our orders, I decided to leave. There's a terrible odor in the restaurant that smelled like the toilets overflowed and they tried to cover the smell by pouring bleach on it. I hope they get this issue resolved because I really liked going there.

I called Pagley's for takeout on a Thursday evening. I was told it would be 25 minutes before it would be ready. I arrived at the appropriate time and entered the front door of the restaurant. This place is the most chaotic restaurant I have ever visited. The wait staff is running around like their hair is on fire. The person that is at the cash register and check in desk is one of their youngest employees. Customers are seated randomly without regard to who arrives first. I stood there waiting for my pickup order for ten minutes before i was acknowledged. I thought I was invisible. Finally the young man asked me how I could be helped and I told him I had a pickup order. Surprisingly, it was ready. The food was good. The Chicken Pastina soup was tasty and the lasagna and meatballs were ok. Overall the food is pretty good but I would NEVER eat at the restaurant but only do takeout. It is a frighteningly chaotic world inside. Management needs to control the reception area and tables a LOT better.

We used to eat here about once a month. Pasta was great and everything else was pretty good. To be completely honest we no longer go here, the hostess and staff are in deferent and not welcoming at all,may not be a big deal for some but for my money I will go else ware .

All marinara has meat fat, so, went for Alfredo sauce. Guess everything has broth because my stomach was jacked up. Flavors were good, not great. Gets pretty crowded on a Saturday night. Atmosphere very "budget."

It's simple. You go here and get the large ravioli and when you leave you realize you just can't match the Italian food that you get in new castle. Unreal!

I waited forever to eat. It was chaos in there like the others have stated. The portion was big. I do not see what all the hub bub is about at this place. I was told it was the best. It's not true at all.

Went last Sat. evening; wet and raining out, arrived about 7:30 pm. Agree with Paul - this place is awkwardly embarrassingly disorganized. I never really mind it except for the entry and waiting part. We were told it would be a 25 minute wait. Okay. But now what? The only good part to this visit was that there was no one else in line when we got there. Otherwise, you must be uber forward to get anyone's attention to have them recognize that you have just walked in and be put on the wait list. One reason we don't go more often. I'm uncomfortable pushing through only to be ignored. Too bad, because the food is great. Back to this visit though. As we stood conspicuously in front of all the others trying to comfortably eat their own meals, we do what we always do: resist the strong first instinct to bolt and get out of this awkward situation. Fortunately for us, a wait staff came up to us and said to follow her w/i about 5 minutes....our flee instinct succumbed. It's true, sometimes you don't know who is responsible for you. Sometimes this is good. Like when you need a new drink or more bread, anyone it seems will replenish. This night we started with a small smelt appetizer. Small is really large, about 1/2 lb. Delicious. Next pasta fagioli all around. Hot and delicious. Main course was eggplant parm. and cavatelli. Again, yes delicious. Refills on drinks and bread; no problem. Nothing uncomfortable about it now other than over-eating issues. We'll be back, but not until I reinforce my courage armor for the next grand entrance: our loss though, we like the place otherwise.

Pagley's is my favorite Italian restaurant in New Castle :-) I would HIGHLY recommend their pink sauce, it is fantastic, as is the pasta fagioli! The tortellini and homemade cavatelli are a couple other of my personal favorites. That being said, I usually order food to go since the service has not been that good in my experience. I would definitely recommend this place though-- yum yum yum!!

Pagley's is inimitable. They have the best ravioli I've eaten in my life- whenever I'm in New Castle, I'll get some for takeout to bring home, even if I'm eating dinner elsewhere- even though frankly, I don't like ravioli in general. It's just that good and unique. They also have an excellent homemade sauce that I've ordered quarts of before (in a takeout soup container) to serve at home.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
